Vítor Tedim Cruz was born in Porto, Portugal in 1974. Il a obtenu son diplôme de docteur en médecine à l’ICBAS-HGSA de l’université de Oporto (1992-1998), a été diplômé en neurologie (2001-2005) et a suivi une formation doctorale en gestion des systèmes de santé à l’université de Oporto Business School (2009-2010) et a terminé son doctorat en sciences et technologie de la santé à l’Université d’Aveiro en 2014. In 2015 he integrated the Epidemiological Research Unit at the Public Health Institute of the University of Oporto.


Ses principaux domaines de recherche sont la neuroréadaptation, la neurologie cognitive et comportementale et les maladies cérébrovasculaires. He is the principal investigator and co-investigator of public funded scientific projects and co-author of international peer-reviewed articles indexed in Pubmed, 15 books and book chapters. Il a donné des conférences sur les neurosciences en tant qu’assistant invité au Département des sciences de la santé de l’université d’Aveiro (2006-2014). As a Senior Neurologist (2006-2016) he worked at the Neurology Department, Centro Hospitalar Entre Douro e Vouga, Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, where he ran a memory clinic and acute stroke care organisation. In 2011 he co-founded Neuroinova, a company dedicated to research and development of technologies in the field of cognitive rehabilitation and commercialisation of COGWEB®, Brain on Track® and CACAO® systems. He is a member of the board of the Portuguese Stroke Organisation (since 2011) and of the board of Neurologists of the Portuguese Medical Council (2012-2021). Since 2016 he is head of the Neurology Department and Stroke Unit at Unidade Local de Saúde de Matosinhos, Portugal.
