My name is Claudio Alejandro Jimenez Monsalve, and I am from Colombia. Fortunately, through my medical training, I have had the opportunity to explore my country and parts of Latin America. I am trained as a neurologist and neurophysiologist. However, for the past four years, I have dedicated my life to the care of stroke patients. After witnessing the ongoing public health issue in our region, I founded and currently lead the first public Stroke Unit in our country, located in Bogotá. I have worked on developing the Stroke Network in Bogotá and have supported the establishment of other stroke centers and networks in the country. The most valuable lesson I have learned while working with stroke patients is that when we save brain tissue, we are also saving social fabric.
