María Atienza

Espagne

María worked in a community pharmacy in Madrid while studying Pharmacy at the Complutense University of Madrid. As an Erasmus scholar she attended Altinbas University in Istanbul, Turkey, where her academic record earned her an award from Madrid Pharmacists’ College (COFM). Returning to Madrid she spent six months working at Hospital Infanta Sofía.

Having become aware of the different ways pharmacists can impact society, she completed a master’s degree in Clinical Research and Pharmaceutical Medicine while working in the medical affairs department of MSD Spain. The experience equipped her with a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, from molecule to patient, and a 360º view of the drug, its clinical development, commercialisation and regulatory processes, and its impact on patients.

Her Master’s degree thesis about Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis earned her a special mention for achieving the highest grade in her class.

Becoming an Angels consultant gives María the opportunity to positively impact stroke patients’ lives. She believes that working with colleagues who share the same values and goals will lead to personal as well as professional growth.
